Ice Studio Art CenterBeing the birth place of ice and snow sculpture St.Petersburg stayed apart from the modern process of snow and ice creativity for long. It was that contradicting circumstance that became the motive to establish the Studio.
Creative innovation and historical connections became the corner stone of our Studio. The philosophy of snow and ice and sand creative work development was worked out in St.Petersburg. This includes both ice and sand sculpture carving in St.Petersburg and comprises simultaneous ice and sand sculpture carving in two supplemental directions.
First, ice and sand sculpture carving as the modern art tendency and second, ice and sand sculpture carving as a new product in several business trends such as tourism, advertising, restaurant business and entertainment could be presented all the year round apart from climate and weather conditions. The first international sand and ice festivals called The Images of the World Cities held on the Peter and Paul Fortress beach started the mental concept coming into life. The first festivals being a success allowed to cope with the second trend called the ice industry. Our Studio works practically in all branches spheres where ice and sand can be used:
Carrying out the Russian Empress Ice Palace project together with the State Hermitage became the next step in developing the Studio philosophy. The international level project stressed the world priority of St.Petersburg in ice sculpting development. The first Russian Sand Festival called The History Parade. The Romanovs performed by the Studio in 2006 started a new series of the exhibitions under the common name The History Parade. Apart from that the ice Studio established the following activities in St.Petersburg:
Ice Studio engravers took part in a number of international projects in Denmark, Latvia, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, Norway, the USA, and China. At the moment we are aiming at establishing the Ice Art Museum. |
Independent Non-commercial Organization The International MASTEROK Ice and Sand Creation Developing Center![]()
The MASTEROK Independent Non-commercial Organization (INO) was established in June 2007. This Center was organized taking into account the Ice Studio Art Center and the Art Studio of the State Hermitage School Center experience in preparing and executing the family contests in ice and sand sculpting. The main target of this Center is to make St.Petersburg the world focal point of the snow and ice and sand creative work.
The objective of the Center is to coordinate non-commercial activities of the Ice Studio Art Center. The important Center activities are to popularize snow and ice and sand art for family pastimes and creative work and to establish the base of methods and ways for professional education and training in this area.

On July, 4th the actor recognized as the most different world institutions will act. Hallgrim Hansgard — a star of "Eurovision" and the master of national dance conducting in Norway aspires to reflect in the creativity of a problem of ecology thanks to what became the main dancer of the present for magazine National Geographic. In performance «JAMSIIS» it executes the dance under a live sound of ice tools which will directly thaw during its performance. Ice design was provided with the Art center «Ice Studio».
